The Shotts and Dykehead Caledonia Pipe Band unveiled its new number one medley at the Shotts Highland Games on Saturday, 1 June, 2013

The contest was the band’s second public performance with its new membership, and its first medley competition of 2013. Of the many changes for Shotts and Dykehead in 2013, a brand new repertoire is amongst the most important. Saturday was the band’s first opportunity to share some of its new music, and the new number one medley features many original compositions and arrangements by Pipe Major Ryan Canning.

The competition itself saw four bands compete on the day, including Shotts and Dykehead Caledonia and three Grade 2 bands playing up for the event. Shotts finished first overall, as did our own Drum Major Iona Burns, and the band followed in the tradition of the games by playing the chieftain and officials of the games committee down the street.
